The old silver, lead and zinc mining town was abandoned in 1957 but is now privately owned and used as a tourist attraction – also being used in the paranormal investigation series, Ghost Adventures.
Fans also believe that the ghost town of Cerro Gordo was also featured in Encounter. In Inyo County, the city of Bishop was used and featured in various Instagram posts from the cast. The town of Trona also features in Encounter, in Searles Valley as well as Roy’s Motel and Café on the famous route 66.
The park has featured in popular culture before, first as the album cover for the Eagles and the 2012 comedy ‘Seven Psychopaths’. The scenic national park features both the Mojave and Colorado Deserts, with the Little San Bernardino mountains in its southern region. In San Bernardino, principal photography took place in the Joshua Tree National Park in Twentynine Palms.
