This is understandable, and we certainly don't care about that. Obviously, in the small Leica community, news travels fast and multiple sites will carry the same stories. Leica Rumor's Facebook and Twitter as well. Just a short time later, guess where this story popped up? You guessed it. We posted the story, Detailed 3D Model of Leica M (Type 240) which of course propagated to our Facebook and Twitter feeds. Nothing direct as far as text or images, but stealing our headlines and presenting them as their own. Of course, these two blatant cases of actual content theft pale in comparison to the daily theft of stories from us. But the point has been made and we won't both comparing them. There is also another image, of the M Monochrom in silver as found on their site here (up top) which is a duplicate of the image we posted - albeit with a black background. The only difference between the images is the scaling/cropping - even the background color is from OUR site! Notice the quick editing around the rear cap (we were in a hurry). Here is the image, scaled back up to the size we posted for easier comparison. Granted, we did our own Photoshopping of this image, but the point is - this one was stolen from US. Which, if you compare to the image contained in this post over on Leica Rumors, is exactly the same, only scaled down. Our story Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 ASPH Exists! which was posted contains the following image: We just noticed a second theft of content.

This is further backed up by our server logs, which explicitly indicate them accessing our content:ĥ0.128.154.168 - "GET /content/new-walter-leica-nut-cracker HTTP/1.1" 200 8716 " " "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh Intel Mac OS X 10_9_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/.77 Safari/537.36"ĥ0.128.154.168 - "GET /sites/default/files/Walter_Nutcracker_2.jpg HTTP/1.1" 200 147158 " " "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh Intel Mac OS X 10_9_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/.77 Safari/537.36" After the fact, they later got permission from Walter Leica to use them. Only to be replaced by a different copyrighted image (still a violation, but not with us). A cease and desist was issued and the two images removed at 1:50pm. Now consider the image below, which is a screenshot taken from that site that clearly shows two images that no one else in the world had as they were sent to us exclusively by the vendor (Walter Pretorius from Walter Leica himself). You'll notice we used the phrase, "Exclusive news from La Vida Leica!" This was for a reason, as we broke the news.

That site ran a story called It does exist: Leica camera nut cracker that was posted on Januat 11:42am EST - which is a copy of our story called New Walter Leica Nut Cracker that was posted earlier at 10:13am.

Now we've seen, directly, a second time this has happened and are going live with this story - which we've hesitated to post previously. But the thefts are blatant and obvious, and happen repeatedly. But such is the nature of the online "news" business.

You'll notice that more often than not, we were first. For proof of this, look at the posts on that site, and then look at the posts on this site - specifically, the time and date of their posting. Typically it means they glom our news posts in an effort to shortcut us (they admittedly have more followers, for now) and provide content for their site. We've noticed over and over again the theft of our content by the site Leica Rumors. We will see what Ricoh brings us in the coming months. We've bitten our tongue enough times now, but this is it. Of course, none of this means that these models will actually make it to market, but even if they do not, it is always nice to see camera companies exploring what makes their brands unique. As far as I know, Leica and Phase One are the only companies to produce modern monochrome digital cameras, which would make a Pentax option the first more affordable one. They are also considering a monochrome-only version without a Bayer filter. The company is considering a model specifically tailored toward astrophotography, and given their awesome AstroTracer feature, such a version would surely be welcome. The company mentioned that they are working on several new lenses, some of which have not been publicly documented on their roadmap. While that certainly is good news for Pentax fans, perhaps more interesting were some of the potential plans for K-3 Mark III offshoots. In a recent interview with Digicame, Ricoh discussed some of their future plans. Two years later, that has not happened, but it has not stopped the company from continuing to march to their own unique beat, as this interview reveals.

Two years ago, Ricoh executives claimed that most users would return to DSLRs in one or two years.
